There is some good news for Indian students who are planning to study in Germany. They can now benefit from the Gratis Visa agreement between India and Germany, which allows students to study and participate in short-term courses in Germany without visa fees. This significant development aims to promote educational exchanges, enhance people-to-people ties, and remove financial barriers for aspiring scholars.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India and Germany have agreed to grant visas for short-duration school and college visits, which makes higher education and cultural exchange possible for Indian students. With this new arrangement, Indian students can now benefit from a visa-free Germany visa free for Indian students. This development follows the visit of German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul to India, where both nations discussed strengthening cooperation in education, trade, investment, science, and green development.

What is Gratis Visa?

With Germany’s growing importance as a preferred destination for Indian students, nearly 49.500 Indian students enrolled in German institutions during the 2023-24 winter semester, marking a 15.1% increase from the previous year. This surge highlights why Germany visa free for Indian students will attract more applicants, with 80% of students pursuing master’s programs, predominantly in STEM fields.
